I guess you have not been taught at home. An approach that ... especially since his son is so young is not informed, and enjoy your surroundings. I have a 5.5 years and started this year trying to "school" at home and were both very frustrated. I have worked with many parents of HS and not a lot of research and although I use the word "school" is basically what we may do not talk. Enter "unschooling" in Google and find many sites that provide information about how to do and how it works. Enjoy your trip and you are not on the child's education if it is the educational experience of a lifetime.
